1a Eyesight Test
You should be able to read a vehicle registration number from a distance of 20.5 metres (old style plates) or 20 metres (new style plates). If required, your glasses or contact lenses should be worn throughout the driving test.
1b Highway Code / Safety
Since you would have already passed you theory test, you will not be asked any Highway Code / Safety questions at the practical test stage, but you should still have thorough knowledge in these areas which you should demonstrate in your driving.
2 Controlled stop
You will need to be able to carry out an emergency stop exercise, bringing your vehicle to a stop, safely, promptly and under full control, avoiding skidding / locking the wheels.
3, 4 and 5 Reverse exercises
You will need to display the ability to control the vehicle safely whilst reversing around a corner, when parking behind another car at the side of the road (reverse parallel park), and manoeuvring into a parking bay (reverse bay park). You must take good effective all round observation throughout the manoeuvres and show consideration to other road users.
